If there is not enough refrigerant in the system, the air conditioner starts to cool worse, and eventually, it stops starting to cool at all. And this is in the best case. Because in the worst case, trying to create an air conditioner with not enough freon can lead to overheating and breakdown of the compressor. The first sign of leakage is just the deterioration of work on cooling and, if the leakage occurred in the visible part, the appearance of oily stains. Take action ,call a supervisor , right away to prevent the compressor from breaking. It is a severe malfunction, and there is no use trying to understand how an air conditioner compressor is constructed - you will have to replace it.
