Yaris 2004

I need to replace the drivers side lower control arm on my Yaris. From memory of attempting this job previously their is a bolt which can't be backed out as it hits something cant quite remember what it is. When it was last done my mechanic said he had to lower the subframe to get it out.

I see lots of info regarding a similar issue for the mark 2 and no issue for pre facelift yaris's. However there isn't much info for this job for post facelift mark 1.

Is there any other way of dealing with this bolt? I have read elsewhere that the engine may be able to be jacked up to possibly get it out I'm not certain nor can I remember where I read this.

Possibly removing a mount somewhere and lifting something up I don't know.

I'm just looking for the easiest solution to accomplish this task.

if lowering the subframe is the only option what would be the correct way to do this?
