are you going for the RN?? cuz to be an LVN, it takes less than 2 years. my lil nephew is currently at concorde, and will be done by this winter. sure, his pay is going to be in the mid-20 range per hour, but then you can do housecalls. a couple of housecalls a day (home health is what i believe they call it) and you're set, cuz i think its at least 50/hour for a house call, and all you do is check vitals. it will definitely take longer to get his RN, but at least he got his feet wet already. the only thing i dislike about this situation is the fact that concorde is private school, so his first few years of pay will be going towards student loans. by then, he may have more loans in trying to get his RN. but yeah, those trade schools are pumping out nurses like crazy nowadays. im HAPPY the test are harder. i dont want a DUMBASS turning me into swiss cheese trying to get a vial of blood. we've all run into incompetent people before, and the hospital is the LAST place i wanna see them... good luck man!

yeah, my friend is taking an LVN program in Vallejo. he can get his RN before we do, and we started before he did! lol...but yeah, i'm talking about being an RN.

as for the test, they can make it harder, but the fact that they heavily base the entrance into the nursing program on a stupid test that doesn't really say anything about nursing (come on, sedimentary rocks?). they should really base it on one's GPA, since it is more likely that those classes are actually classes that a nurse will need to know, unlike how to read a map or rocks.

yeah, i've had an incompetent nurse take my blood before. and man, did that hurt!

That's cool. I was just letting you know about other stuff out there :) You do what you want and you do what you love!! I'd rather do something I love over more $$ personally. Good luck with everything :)
