Chopper sound describes it nicely. However, my Civic Sedan doesn't make the same noise when the rear windows are open. So, it's probably specific to the Yaris's or other cars with similar design.
NO big deal, I just have the rear closed and the front fronts cracked open. With the back closed, I find that the fronts do a great job at keeping noise to a minimum when you don't want to use the AC. A sunroof might be nice, if it can increase air flow in the interior without increasing noise level. |

I've got a 2000 Civic Sedan, perhaps the less boxy and newer Civic's have more of a boom when the back is open. In the Yaris, I only need to be doing about 50km/hr to get it boom in the back, which isn't the case for my Civic.
