@ Black Yaris: I've driven quite a few manual transmission vehicles but they were mostly small trucks and a few smaller sportier 2 seater cars. I have heard something similar to this in the cars but in the trucks I don't remember hearing anything like it at all.

Just the fact that it seems much more pronounced in the Yaris (perhaps because it is the first NEW car I've driven) added to the fact that I had heard some talk of a TSB on transmission noise made me wonder if I needed to place the strategic "zip-tie" fix I've heard about...
