That's a strange policy in your state.
Older diesel cars put out more soot (i don't know if that's the correct name for it) than younger ones.

In Europe it's forbidden in about 1/2 years to drive a car without a sootfilter.
Our goverment gives us subsidy for placing a sootfilter, so it's free.

In a lot of cities, trucks without this sootfilters are forbidden to enter the citycentre!

I didn't expect that the diesel is faster then the 1.5l Yaris. I think if you go from 0-60mph the gas powered one is faster!
But because of the torque what you get in the diesel it doesn't matter in wich gear you drive.
