my main concern is that the left headlight (when sitting inside the car) does not sit flush with the hood. the right lid is perfect (except for some nicks in the fiberglas....) and sits flush. anyone notice that too? the left one also doesnt look quite the same as the left.

OK, now this I'm really concerned about. Is the eyelid correctly aligned and pasted on top of the headlight? Does the left eyelid have the marks as well?

Yes, it is aligned and pasted on there the same as the other one... its like the lip that holds the tape on is about 1/4 inch too long and sticks up.

This pic shows the left headlight, the lid is sticking up:


This pic shows the right headlight, same angle. notice how flush it is:


This is the left headlight again, showing how much it sticks up from the hood:


This is the right headlight, same angle. you can barely see it, its very flush:
