I really like the idea, we can probably get something done for 2008... I'd say a desk calendar (those triangular based ones), they look professional, should not be too expensive, and you can have two sides, one with a full picture, the other side with the calendar space and a couple of small pics.

I think what we need now is for everyone now to try and take or find the nicest picture they have of their car and post it here. It will help of course if you have the original picture in high resolution and good quality, camera phone pics would not be eligible This is because, a picture might look really good on a computer screen, but if it's too small, it'll look like crap printed. Heck, I'm sure pretty much everyone here would have a friend who's got a good camera, bribe them with a beer or something to go out and take some nice pics of your car!

Then, we'll have to implement a voting system for everyone to pick out the 12 best pictures to be showcased.

I don't know if we really need girls to pose with the cars, though, as nice as it would be, it seems a little tacky, we want peoples' attention on the cars, after all!

Sponsors would be most welcome as well, even though these probably won't be so expensive to make, it would be good to be able to get them extra cheap.

So, if anyone's got any contacts with print shops or similar, please ask them if they can make these, and if so, what's their price and quantity requirements.

Since we have some artists here, I think it would be nice to do a separate vote for a cover design.

I know you can have custom calendars made at Kinko's, the kind with a large picture on top and dates below--all you need is your 12 pictures. They may even do the mailing if we give them a list.

I work at a print shop as a designer and the desk calendar idea would be more than say a wall calendar because of the binding. Stitching (or stapling) would be a lot cheaper. Some of the things that effect pricing is what kind of paper (& how much), how it is bound, color, holes drilled, whether there is a bleed or not (where the color runs off the page), and quantity. I think maybe using some 11.5x17.5 paper, cutting it down to 11x17 with a bleed, and folding it in half would be the cheaper way to go. If someone else wants to design it or I can, preferably with something from Adobe like InDesign, Photoshop or Illustrator, I can easily get it printed for cost of materials. I think a 100# glossy book paper would work great for this. We do calenders all the time. They could be coil bound, but that adds to the cost quite a bit.
