I only know of one person that has gone straight through on their exhaust, and from what he told me it was LOUD. Like, uber loud. Now, myself... I don't mind it. Some do. IDK, that is your call. I'm not afraid of no cops!

Not sure if this is what you mean by straight through, but I wouldn't be cat-less if that makes a difference...

As long as it doesn't drone, I wouldn't really mind a good noise.

Then again, I suppose I could simply stick with the stock exhaust and replace the resonator with a 1.75"-2" straight section. Probably won't net much in terms of power, but the main reason I'm trying to get rid of/avoid using one is its usually the simplest place to knock off 15-20lbs.

Personally, I'll take weight savings over [miniscule] power gains any day of the week.

I have a custom magnaflo. I would recommend leaving the resonator as it is going to be way loud without it. I am running a more traditional offset inlet/outlet type muffler than the one you're thinking about. I'm not sure what model it is but it hangs down a little and I don't like the look. On top of that, the drone at highway speed is terrible. I've actually been thinking of switching to another exhaust. Before I do that though, I think I'm going to sound insulate the floor pan. It seems part of the problem with the noise is that there is no sound insulation at all, just bare metal from the rear seats all the way back. It's like a dam tin can back there and I'm sure the lack of insulation is 3/4 of the problem with the noise resonating through the car.
