I like the idea of the wider fenders because there is a return on a wider stance in handling. Those are not contoured enough for my taste, and the examples above are too notchy or blockey. I think emulating the Mini Cooper would be a good direction where the flares start higher on the body.

I saw a UK site that was using flares from an Escort or something to start with. The UPSIDE to the 2-door is that you have much more room to work with to make the rear smooth and nice!

I was thinking about flaring mine a couple of inches this winter or something. You can also just roll the fenders to get a little more wheel clearance and lose the plastic in the front.

Exactly! I've been eye-balling the Mini's flares for some time now.
