Is it true that once you change to synthetic oil, you can't go back to regular oil?

That's what the service guy at Goodyear told me.

I've heard rumor of that too. Not sure though. Anyone care to enlighten us?

A Total Myth.

Synthetic oils can be mixed with conventional oils. They are compatible with each other.

Engines running synthetic oils just have less wear and going back to conventional is fine. No damage done to the engine.

Sounds to me like your Goodyear guy wants you to keep using his expensive oil

No worries, fully compatible to conventional

Only problem may be slight loss of gas mileage....otherwise it's just going from top of the line to average.
