Think of it this way too. Many synthetic oils are a mixture of synthetic and regular oil so it couldn't hurt to go back and forth.

Wow...so they can be mixed? Guy at Valvoline place told me this is a no-no, as synthetic + natural have different molecular weights!
Geez, he did not have to go that far, I have fallen for FAR less complex tales.

Moble 1, Castrol, and the normal name brands that ppl know of are class III synthetics and are dirived from mineral oils, as you said. That is why I get the good stuff class IV synthetics (Redline, AMSoil, Royal Purple, etc), they are true full synthectics and usually are not that much more than the class III's. Many of the class IV oil company claim you can go quite far between oil changes, as far as 25,000/1 year, because class IV full synthictics do not breakdown nearly as fast.
