I found that applying a good protectant to the dash and door insides, on the plastic, added a little darker hue to the gray. The shine, combined with that, really looks nice. I use Black Magic because it has UV protection (crack prevention) and it smells fantastic
I just can't seem to keep up with the vac..the carpets are filled with little rocks ten seconds after I clean it

An engine that is free of debris and grease and oil will stay a tad cooler, resulting in less wear and tear. The other angle I've heard before, is that oil and grease resist water, so a thin layer under the hood protects against rust on the block and engine components.
