I have some stuff called "rust converter" that chemically reacts with teh rust to create a paintable substance (or so it claims). I will probably wire brush off the area of interest, clean it up the best I can with some sort of solvent (maybe IPA), apply the rust converter, mask off the surrounding areas, and paint. I have just never heard of painting a muffler before so wanted to see if anyone had tried it before.

There was some talk of it when Chris sprayed the inside of the wheel wells. You could search for that to see if any good info was brought up. Can't remember the title though, sorry.

you need something like this or your need to sand blast it, its the only way you can really get rid of the rust.

if you just paint over it i'll flak off in a day or 2
