Should I buy these wheels???

http://boston.craigslist.org/gbs/pts/426207103.html

found these used 17" wheels on craigslist...
thinking bout using these as summer/autox tires

guy wants 275 but imma try to go 250

Good:
i like the style
somewhat cheap
I can repaint them myself and make em look purty

bad:
he doesnt know offset
bad tires
dont know weight

deal or no deal?

Actually, they look like pretty nice wheels. You can easily strip and repaint them, and they'll look like new.

Ask the guy to turn the wheels over and check the offset. It will be stamped on the back of each rim. Give him a hint to look for a number somewhere between 35 and 45... usually stamped inside a small circle.

If the offset is any less than 40, I'd pass on them.

BTW, I wouldn't pay any more than $150 to $200 for the wheels.

You might not like 17s for autocross.

ya def. a bit expensive esp. since you cannot tell just from pictures what condition they are in until you see it in person.

I've always liked Konig Villians. For that price, you could aways repaint them, too.

You'll probably want to know what size tires they are, though ...

The '89 accord was 4x114 though, wasn't it?

Yes, you should buy those rims

Those rims are cool, but I'd paint them a dark gray or black.

if you're going for looks, i'd get them and refinish them. but wouldn't 17's be too much for auto-X?

nah,
I wouldn't put those scratched up things on your new car.

Besides, by the time you put a new set of tires on them you're getting close to the price of a brand new set up of tire/wheel combo.

If the tires still had some life and they were going on an '89 Accord I'd say

What size? What tires are on them? It's autoX; just rattle-can them black... seriously, it's not a car show, run what you got. I'd favor going smaller diameter, BUT it's not a deal killer, and if they are 7" wide, 205's stretch very nicely on them, giving you the option of a lower profile/tight sidewall tire setup which with any decent rubber is molto bene! Get the #'s on them; offset and width, and let us know.
