ok with your 'deadspot'try removing the air flow meter from the intake box, clean it out the hotwire resistor with some ELECTRIC CONTACT CLEANER.And try a modified air intake.On my yaris I have fitted a K&N filter on a short custom made 2'5in pipe.Helps a lot with responsiveness.
