I thought the idea was to keep political opinions out of this thread?
Gene, please don't feed the troll.

Bobby Boy is one of these obnoxious kids who thinks that Obama is something unique and different. He's been dealing with two varieties of Bush, a Clinton and maybe he dimly remembers Ronald Reagan. Bush Jr is probably the most audacious of the lot, and is as much of a Conservative as myself.
In spite of what we've been told, Clinton wasn't a liberal. He was a member of the Democratic Leadership Council. His wife was a liberal and made so many mistakes that it was easy to hem in Bill. So Bobby has never really lived under a liberal Federal Government. Jimmy Carter is probably as real to him as Abraham Lincoln. Bobby never had to watch a President on TV proclaim that "America's best days are behind her". In response to the "energy crisis", Carter put on a sweater that made him look elderly, and advised us all to put one on too. To "conserve" energy. Bobby never had to deal with double digit interest rates, long lines at gas stations, shlepping for a job without contacts and other joys of life under the Man from Plains. He never watched our military get the living shit kicked out of them, for example at Desert One, or watched an aggressive world power push us around in Africa, latin America and other places. Yeah, lines at gas stations. I remember those real well. Those of us who lived under Lyndon Johnson and Jimmy Carter remember what an activist Democrat is like, and how much fun it is to cope with stupidity on an assembly line basis from the Three Ring Circus along the Potomac River. Especially when they get strident, like when they dick with prices and cause gas lines or decide that we're gonna do things their way whether we like it or not. Change? Obama is Jimmy Carter with a darker skin and a better education. The people who suffered most under guys like him were kids without education, contacts and connections. Bobby is gonna be wailing by 2010, if he's not shot in the head at a gas station because he got cute with another person waiting in line for their ration. Anyone remember "Odd" and "Even" days? Ever heard of that, Bobby? Better get acquainted with it, it means that you could buy gasoline if the last number on your license plate was either odd or even. If you had an even number and tried to buy gasoline on an odd day you could get fined. You also had a five dollar per gallon minimum per visit. These were meant to curb gas lines, which occur when guys like Obama or Jimmy Carter start to dick with gasoline prices. Enjoy the Change, Bobby. Gene |

Thanks, Gene! Looking forward to it (the end of the old, rich, white, straight men's hold on the Presidency) with great anticipation! I feel Obama will be an awesome President. I'll be a very proud American if Barack Obama is my President! Let's keep our fingers crossed for Tuesday!

Again. Why can't we all get along?
SOME FORUM RULES -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Well here are some basic guidelines everyone should try to follow: This is a Yaris enthusiast community, first and formost we are a community. Please respect each other in this way, be helpful! If someone has a question, no matter how newbie it may seem, be helpful and spread the knowledge you've gained. Everyone has to start somewhere At times there will be difference of opinions or arguments, never attack other YW members. We will not tolerate this, and we encourage our members to report posts in which someone attacks another member. We will respond quickly to correct the situation, we are a community and a club and will not tolerate trolls, etc... Added by eTiMaGo: We're all here for one reason: The Yaris. Whether it's a sedan or liftback, manual or automatic, it's the one reason we come here, right? Now everyone has their own vision for their car, it could be to keep it stock and maximize fuel economy, it could be to turn it into a lightweight, zippy autocross racer, it could be to extract as much acceleration out of it, or turning it to a Fast and Furious-worthy street racer, and so on, or even a little bit of all those. And the great thing is, this car has the potential to be all those things, even if you agree or not. And that's probably the problem, this forum attracts Yaris owners or prospective owners from all walks of life. We have 60-somethings, we have working people who depend on the car as a tool to get them from place to place, we have kids who just want to have the coolest car on the block, and all those visions are important to those people. Sure, it's fun to make jokes of the guy who's done some ricer kinda mods to his car, sure, it may be frustrating to see people so hell-bent on extracting performance out of a car that has not been designed to have much performance in the first place. But so what? If you think you know better, just leave a warning, and leave it at that. When someone doesn't follow your advice and gets burned in some way, then you have all the right to say "I told ya so". A fool and his money are soon parted, I believe the saying goes...
