1. Semi- Permanent -- I've wrapped it around the steering column. The length of cord conveniently ends at the very top, ie it allows the unit to sit right on top of the steering column.

2. Power from Battery..but it can remember you set up and data from within 1 fill up.

3. Cold...yes, Hot summer...not exactly. When I leave the car, I take the unit and tuck it into the little cubby hole to the right of the driver's knee. I'm sure the unit can stand high temp (as high as the car interior can go)..but Direct sunlight is a no no because of the LCD display.

4. Fuse cover? The obd2 port is under the fuse area..under the whole dash. So no worries about the fuse cover.

I left mine in the car all summer and I never had a problem with heat
It takes its power from the car ,there are no batteries in the unit.
There is no fuse cover it just plugs into the OBD11 connector.

Thanks for your answers! Oh, for some reason, I was under the impression that the OBDII connector was behind the fuse cover....hmmm..... oh well, thank you very much for clearing that up!
