It's insane how much New England prices are compare to the other states, just today I got 5 quotes ranging from $390 to $650. And no body wanted me there waiting It got worst because I wanted to watch / help / and or take pictures to document it. They wanted me to drop off the car the night before and I pick it up next day at the end of the day.

A lot of them sounded really nice over the phone or when I started the conversation at their shop, but at the end I felt like if they didn't want it to do it.

A lot of BS out there just trying to take advantage of innocent people.

You should try living in Hawaii! When we try to ship things out here sometimes we get the "privilege" of paying 100% shipping.

As far as the watch / pictures / help angle, it's probably because of our sue-happy society. They don't want any liability should something go wrong, etc.

I'd say keep snooping around. There's gotta be someone out there (maybe another car club?) that can help you out. If you come from the angle that you want to learn and need someone to help - you'll probably have no problem finding someone.
