The Toyota dealer here was honest enough to tell me that they use bulk oil, even though my 5K oil change was going to be on the house I told them no thanks. Besides changing the oil and rotating the tires at 5K I cleaned my battery cables. Already had a good acid buildup on them, brushed some silicone grease on the cable ends and posts, no more problems now with the corrosion.

The bulk oil should be ok as long as its not the pennsoil/qs/kendall recycled stuff. I have actually had BETTER luck with bulk valvoline and M5000 than stuff I got in the bottle at AZ. It must be batch sensitive. You dont know unless you try. A sniff is a good start - the bulk pennziol SMELLS like waste oil. Yecchh.

That's what the salesman told me: bulk Pennzoil

I just think it's really odd that I see nothing but *Toyota* oil when I'm in the parts department, and when I say I'll try some of that when you change my oil, I get told bulk Pennzoil is the only oil available in the service department.
