It isn't dangerous if done correctly. The guys @ Foose know what they're doing. For those of us that don't have a degree in automotive engineering, it is a lot safer to just buy some aftermarket springs or else you may find yourself driving on a waterbed suspension like our friend in the Acura.

it's simple math.. if you have 7 coils designed to support 600lbs.. and you cut off one coil, you have to split that 86lbs with the remaining 6 coils. if the spring is heavy duty enough, you'll be fine.. if its not (Tanabe DF style) you'll bottom out more, and eventually may see spring failure. i'm currently running Tein Stechs from an xB (much heavier car) with a coil removed from each spring.. the car rides fine, and because my car is about 350lbs lighter than a stock xA i have no issues with over-straining the springs.
