I've done Port and Polish + 3 angle Valve Job on my Yaris....
DEFINITELY didnt lose any low end... Felt more starting 2.5K rpm onwards.... Reason for doing it: Labor is cheap over here... unlike USA... cost only around $250... and its WAY more feel - able than Muffler... Intake... bla bla bla... |

The 1NZ (and 1ZZ and 2ZZ for that matter) have far to big of a stroke.... you need a more square bore and stroke.
destroke the 1NZ with custom rods and pistons and offset grind on the crank and shave a bit of the top of the block off ;) Then you can make some serious power but you'll also lose a bit of displacement. But well worth it for the performance gain. But not worth it in the wallet.
