This bit of info let me dredge up something that might explain why earlier folks had fewer issues with the throttle-body swap.

Some Corolla's came with throttle bodies with ID #22041 on the chip housing. Others have that problematic chip-housing with ID #0D031. What'cha wanna bet the #22041 chip is special in some way? :-)

ID#22041 is for vehicles with vin number starting with a LETTER (jap built)
ID# 0D031 is for vehicles with vin starting with a number (american built)

im guessing our cars do not like TB"s from american built cars.....

DUDE YOU ROCK!!!

Thank you for solving this issue for us. I can now finally install mine without a CEL coming on.

Does this also solve the high rpm when cold problem?

This is great. I am so stoked to get this on the car. It truly makes a difference that can be felt.
