If I may suggest, a useful little device which I have (but never really fully used yet), the a'pexi RSM:

http://www.apexi-usa.com/product_ele...=199&pageNum=1

Think of it like a Scangauge for performance data... It can display RPMs and speed, but also measure 0-60, 0-100, 0-200 (), quarter-mile, estimate horsepower, etc etc

It's a little pricey around $250ish, and to get the most accurate results you'd need to get an optional G-sensor, but it'd be waaay more accurate than taking a video and timing it later with a stopwatch

Plus it looks cool and works great as a semi-heads up display for tach and speedo (i.e. put it on your dash in front of you like I have)

Ah maybe one day. But I still neeed to pay for my exhaust setup, autometer electric boost/vacuum, oil pressure, and wideband a/f gauges; then a dyno! So maybe after all of that. But until then, stopwatch!

We have gotten some very accurate readings with this little tool:http://www.dynolicious.com/, when compared to actual 1/4 mile runs.

Or, to take the launch out of the equation, just time yourself from a rolling start (say 10-15 mph). You should be able to get pretty consistent and repeatable times to within 2 tenths of a second by doing it that way.

aaah nice and geeky But yeah, since iPhones have both GPS and accelerometers built in, this should work pretty well!
