Was going to do just that, but the deal fell through. My salesman and I did some dickering over the Internet, and I finally proposed that they sell me the Yaris at invoice and allow me $9500 trade-in. The salesman thought that might be doable, but he said it would all depend on what the official trade-in appraiser said. Well, guess what? That $9500 turned out to be only $8000, so I walked.

There is NO WAY I would take so little for my Cobalt. A lot of it is not necessarily the dealer's fault. When you trade-in a car that is less than a year old, you can plan on taking a huge hit. I just didn't think it would be THAT huge.

Oh well, no Yaris for you then, huh? You can always let your kid borrow yours and you borrow his.
