Good read!

Any updates on an 09 yaris MT? Any confirmations regarding the connector for the clutch switch?

Parts needed:

Clutch Switch: 88280-14030
Steering Cover: 4518452130b0
Stalk: 84632-34011

I already ordered the stalk on ebay for $29.99 shipped.

I soldered every connections real bad and there's still nothing happening... If my understanding is good all I have to do is get to >40 mph (~60km/h on my canadian car), press the on/off button (with black and red wires) and then press on set, is that it !? If it's a ground problem, can I use a ground wire somewhere to make sure that it's not my connection to the chassis that is bad!? thanks for you help !

That is correct (it's actually >25 mph). Just to clarify, the on/off switch is the one before the resistor and the set switch is the one after the resistor.

By the way, I believe that you are the first Canadian trying this.

For a ground, The bolt that you posted the picture of is a great ground point. You can strip about an inch of insulation off of the wire, wrap the wire around the bolt (under the washer) and crank the bolt back down.

Alright thanks for clarifying this point ! By the way in the meantime I tried to ground it on the battery with a wire going out the window without success... I verified if there was an internal resistance in my switches but there's none... I've been working on it (mostly making trials again and again) for more than 6 hours and I'm actually wondering if something is different on the canadian version !!??

just to be clear, you know you have to have the resistors in place, correct? A simple grounding of the pin 40 wire will not trigger the cruise, you need those resistors wired to the switches...

Well, I'm guessing that a column cover wouldn't run all that much. Plus about 30 total for a stalk assuming you buy one on ebay and not find one at a yard somewhere. Outweighs the cost of having it installed at the dealer! Plus it probably adds a little bit of resale value to it.

Yes. I installed it using my $10 switch method on my 09. Quite a few have now done it on 07's through 09's.

First of all I'd like to thank everyone who's been putting so much work into this, A+ job guys!

I'm looking to do this on my '07 AT hatchback, can't find a stalk on ebay so if anyone has one laying around PM me and I'll buy it off ya

after I get that accomplished I may hit you up CTScott about one of those LED array thingys... then I can prolly throw together a DIY for the 07-08 AT crowd once I get the parts :D

What he said, plus make sure the switches are N.O., not N.C.

I do have a multimeter, and get a 630 ohm reading when I check the resistance at both ends of the resistors with both switches pressed.
The switches must be N.O. because if I dont press on both I dont get any reading. It's the 1st time I'm using a multimeter how can I verify the continuity of my switches??? thanks again

With the switches you should see a high value or OL when they are not pressed and 0 ohms when they are. Or, in circuit 0 when on/off is pressed an 630 ohms when set is pressed.

My friend, you might have found my problem !

- When on/off is pressed i get a 530 ohms reading
- When set is pressed, i get 624 ohms

I have no idea why I get this 530 ohms reading... I might make another set of switches since I have 2 other swithes a lot of resistors...

When in the Ohm setting, did you touch the two probes together and
get 0 Ohms? Just checking to see that the meter is calibrated, which
could throw off your readings.

Did you get a chance to swap that switch out? If not, before you do, check the extra switches with the meter to make sure that they're OK.
