Replacing a clutch is normal, expected maintenance with any manual transmission, just like replacing tires and brake pads. Taking care of your clutch by not slipping it any more than absolutely necessary, never using it to hold the car on hills, not making "dragster starts" and never using it to reverse motion (that is, fully stop when you're backing up before you put it in a forward gear to drive away) will make it last much longer. But eventually it's got to be done.
