Unless someone can convince me otherwise, I'm putting the stock TB back on tomorrow. I can handle the CEL but the oscillation is a little scary. After the chip swap, it oscillates very heavily from 2k to 3k for almost 2 minutes.

do this, put the stock TB back and drive it for over a week with out doing and or trying anything at all and then swap the chip back to 1zz and try it again, this helps your ecu to remember the normal setup, then give it a fresh try after that. it worked for me.

I concur with T-Sport. Giving it a 2nd try made it work for me too.
35-38 mpg now for 3k miles with new TB. No issues at all, except high cold idle. I really think it's worth it.
