If you think going 85 MPH is insane, wait until you see what happens at 88 MPH.
![]() That said, I remember reading a while back that if you pull the e-brake one click (just enough to trigger the light but not enough to make contact with the drum) it would disable the governor. BUNCH OF LIES. D: My hatch fell flat on her face at 115 MPH, which was kind of frustrating, because it felt like she had enough gun to hit 125. Tailwind? Not sure. I didn't check the weather conditions at the time. But she had life left in her. Looks like I'll have to look into the SLD once forced induction is factored into the equation. By the way, a side note: a tire's speed rating is to show the maximum speed/friction the tire is capable of handling at max load at 100% constant speed. Short bursts above the rating are at your own risk, but I haven't had a failure yet. My 1987 Supra Turbo was wearing some kind of economy R-rated tire (106 MPH) and I had her up to 165 with no blowout... but again, and I can't stress this enough, it's at your own risk. But you SHOULDN'T have much of a problem if it's just a blast to top speed and then back down to 65 MPH. |
