On my 2009 daytime running ligts use a separate smaller bulb located apart from the primary bulb - very clever and efficient set-up. Or am is not getting the question?

i think you're referring to the 'city light' the 194 bulb.

Not really. The view of the headlight bulb is obscured by some sort of decroativ/reflective shield.

try removing the bulb on the passenger side?
