I thought about an aftermarket steering wheel, but I can't get over the fact that if the CHP catches you, you're fined like $5k-$6k (not for the steering wheel, but for tampering with the airbag), or at least my friends told me.

I don't know how much the tickets are, but yeah, if you remove any safety equipment from a vehicle, you can get a ticket.
My co-worker actually got a ticket for using his 4-point harness in his 350z instead of his seatbelt. He still had it present in the vehicle, but he got ticketed for not wearing it.

I didnt know about this. so much for an awesome steering wheel. i was planning of getting an aftermarket steering wheel and quick release soon. i guess ill have to pass on this. id rather have all the safety i can get on my airbags if I do get into any accident in the future.
