better mileage w/ skinner tires
normally our chevy aveo has 185-60-14's. i recently "upgraded" to 14" aluminum wheels w/ 175-65-14 tires....
w/ 185's the aveo typically would get about 7L/100km hwy in the summer....this last tank of mostly highway w/ some stop and go on it was 6.17L/100km. i usually do 120-130km/h on the highway (about 100 on hwy 6) i was pleasently surprised -- i didnt think it would make that huge of a difference...

not bad, did you factor in the 1% difference in height as well? since you went with a smaller overall circumference, you need to "remove" 1% from your mileage number (it's slightly more than 1% but whatever lol)

Makes sense, less rolling resistance. I know I get lower gas mileage from Sprocket due to its taller, wider tires.
By the way, unless the dealer (who installed the wheels) adjusted it somehow, my Yaris' speedo is spot on with the larger wheels; according to my GPS. |

what is the difference in weight of the tires?
Is one tire more stickier than the other (i.e. wear rating and traction rating)? |
