Just to let you guys know, that calveras has a lot of elevation change even through the hairpins. Keep in mind especially with stock suspension since the car won't settle. The edge of the road if you heading south towards Milpitas is elevated from the dirt. You'll also need to honk your horn before entering turns. Bring 2 ways bec. most cel phone will not get any signal and someone can communicate in case of a crash.
I ran Calaveras before the construction of new pavement and addition of guard rails. Its dangerous then and still today if you aren't careful. |

I think during at night though the headlights of any oncomming cars will make it more obviouse that cars are comming. Still on those few sections i always slow down to a crawl. There are only a few of them halfway up the mountain. |
