To total it doesn't the damage have to be a certain amount of the cars value or something???

I'm betting that they total it. I've been looking into buying some totaled Yaris from the insurance salvage auctions and have seen ones with less damage than that listed with salvage titles.

I recently totalled my '09 Yaris and the repair bill was $16200......$3000 more than I paid for it! It's hard to tell if yours will be totalled, but you really do want it to be. Even if they fix it properly, it will forever be branded as salvage so its resale value will always be less than one that was never wrecked. Now if you plan on keeping it and driving it forever then this isn't much of a concern. |
