it's like a war in here after a few post that blame on the government for the window tinting law .
I do have a window tinting shop at GA. And a reason of 95% Customer that wanted a dark tint on their car is about PRIVACY. Not a GANGSTA looking or trying to kill peoples or "drug trafficking " and about 90% got baby seat(s) on their back seat. Or what kind of tints will look good, or match the color, block more heat, feel cooler, stop the sun, save the dash.....A lot of peoples out there who worry and take a very good care of their cars inside out, that is why they need window tinting.
I do understand that the cop worry about their SAFETY = TRUE. That is why i always explained to my customers very carefully about the law.
Ok there is alot of young kids who wanted to look cools.....so they can put whatever tints they like on their car as long they are responsible for it.
To me they should low down the tint law to at least 20% it's look almost like 32% which is the legal tint law here in GA.
Alot of peoples got a tint ticket for like 20-28% which is ridiculous for those who wrote that tickets.
If you can see the driver let's them go, some cops just have to pull out their tint meter and trying to make moneys out of it.

my 2 cents.

Totally seeing your point.

But it sucks to be a cop, not knowing whats going on inside the car. Cops die. They need to not. So they need to be safe.

At the same time, Police can give you tickets for a FMIC, even tho they come stock with Evos. Its not the Cop's job to know whats what from the factory. Thats what a REF is for.

Maybe Police should just require people to turn on their dome lights.

Why do people feel they need so much "privacy" when driving on public roads? It's like wakling down the street and not wanting people to see you.

IMO, the majority of tint law are reasonable and allow for a dark enough tint, unless you are afraid of what someone might see inside your car for whatever reason.

Save the dark tints show cars but, keep the tints light enough when on public roads so I can see WTF you are doing in there!

I already said valuables in the car while your parked for one. And honestly, with psychotic episodes of road rage these days, I like just being able to ignore everyone on the road. There have been random freeway shootings on the freeways here in california, and I feel slightly better with darker tint, making a clear shot just a little harder. Also I've heard women feel safer in bad neighborhoods, because random people can't see that there's just one 100 lb girl in the car. Are we good on privacy yet?

I think the real question is... why do you want to see in my car so bad??

I can't begin to tell you how many times I saw a very inattentive driver a on cell phone, putting on make up, eating etc in proximity to my vehicle.
I steer clear or these a-holes.
It's a matter of public record that they are a major cause of accidents.
When someone is on a public road their privacy is limted due to the very nature of it being public.

I guess my point is you should be watching the road, not inside my car...

I guarantee the person paying attention to driving rather than other drivers and trying to classify each one as safe or dangerous is the safer driver.

Quit lying anyway, you know your just mad because the tint on the escalade in front of you on the way home last night was just a little to dark, preventing you from watching finding nemo with their kids on the flip down screen.

I would say to you that a good driver must pay attention to other cars and their drivers That is part of the "road" that you speak of.

You gotta love it when someone cuts through the fog.

When you're in private - you have the right to privacy.
When you're in public you don't.
When you're driving on a public road, yeah you guessed it, you're in public.

The rest of us have a right to see what you're up to at the moment, whether you're paying attention etc and whether or not we have eye contact at a critical moment (THE cardinal rule for motorcyclists btw). It's helps the police too when they can see inside your vehicle at a stop (oh and the driver standing outside the car with his hands on the roof doesn't do shit for the cop, there might be someone else in the car with a gun).

When you're driving on a public road, you're in public so please keep your zipper closed and your finger out of your nose. Keep some napkins in a cubby hole or invest in a little box of kleenex for crying out loud. Oh and paleeze do us all a favor and do the makeup thing before you leave the house. And hang up the freakin phone and drive!!!!!!

Please show me where it says I don't have a right to privacy in public. Can I close the door in a public bathroom?? Can I cover the keypad when I'm entering my pin at the gas station?

None of your arguments make sense either, because I can black out all of my black windows, and you wouldn't be able to see anything going on in the back.

You're pointing out places where the societal norm is to give people a private space in public. But you're forgetting that my safety doesn't depend on my seeing you use the bathroom. I'm probably safer if I don't.

I wouldn't see what your up to very well from behind anyway and eye contact isn't likely.

Sorry but I don't get this. When a police officer pulls a car over he should assume that everyone is obeying the law and gets out of the car because the law says they should? Sounds like a good way to get shot to me!

Both of the examples you stated will not endanger anyone and by law, is considered private.

However driving with a cell phone in one hand and a "big mac" in the other will.

Besides, laws in all states that eveyrthing you do in public is no longer private.
This is why it is legal to put a camera in any public setting, even at an ATM.

Have you ever looked around while driving? I see people pick their noses all the time. I'd assume people see me when I do it.

You obviously haven't gotten a ticket in California.

You know what that reminds me of? The cellphone laws here in Cali. Its 20 bucks for first violation, then 50 bucks each violation on top of that. An accumulating total. So its 20, then 20+50, then 20+50+50. But heres the catch. The 20 dollar violation fee from the DMV, jumps to 130 after court fees.
