I don't think th north fork is like that anymore, but the south fork in the town of East Hampton is. No fast food franchises allowed, but they'll sneak in Starbucks lol. IMO, I like the north fork better. I went to Greenport about 6 months ago and loved it. So different from East Hampton, Amagansett and Montauk. And definitely different from town of Southampton where everything is allowed there.

Actually it still is. The farthest out on the North Fork you will find a McDonalds or whatever is Mattituck. Anything east of their is still small mom/pop shops. Most of what you find now, instead of the vast number of potatoe farms (used to be bigger than Idaho potatoes) you find vineyards. It's still very touristy, but mainly cause of the vineyards, and people just trying to get away from the city for the weekend/summer.
