now if you had low profile tires you probably would have seen some damage. As for changing from the plastic cover to the aluminum cover I'd just keep the plastic cover, if down the road you think it would be a good investment then go for it. JMO

Yes, next time I'll inadvertently run into a police barricade or something.

I was obviously fortunate and this has made me extra wary when on parking lots now.
I'll probably leave the plastic shield on for awhile. It's only misshapen in one small spot.
