That top car is Mark Eldridge's NASCAR vehicle. He is always a top contender... And has been for years.

What exactly are you asking about the seat rails?

How many of those cars actually have rails to move the sweet spot even further back?

Got it... Quite a few actually. I believe you can start doing that in pro-am up to up higher classes.

For the record I do not and will not do that. If I cannot make it sound perfect in the stock position all the way back or in my drivers position it's just not right to me.

Just a side note, I've been talking with Garm about some modifications to the Yaris during my deployment to Afghanistan here in early 2014. I'll be picking up the Legatia SE LE series speakers, Upgrading the train horn to a Nathan K-3LA a low profile manifold, and installing an air runner suspension on this little car.

For me the Yaris will never be a fast car or one I would want to make fast. Going the other way, being able to slam this little car to the ground appeals to me highly.

I've got to keep up with you D...somehow! :)

This video is to show you how fast is my Yaris... LOL

NO, the idea is to show how much engine noise gets into the cabin (or how much engine noise is blocked into the cabin) in hard acceleration:

Thanks, I set up the music low enough to hear it as a reference against engine noise.

Get prepared and stay safe brother.

Oh...I'm probably going to step off of Team Hybrids. I've got SO many other things to concentrate on aside from towing the team line. Besides, if I can be the fourth best sounding car in the world WITH a blown processor and a nearly dead head unit and a tune that wasn't correct...I've got my stuff right. I'm still trying to decide if I want to sell off my heavy sound equipment...

The things I need to concentrate on are partly this:

One of those things is to get my wife finished with her nursing degree program just south of you.

Another thing for me to work on is my probable deployment to Afghanistan at the end of next year.

...the last one is prepping for this:

It's "just" a little kit car. Over this year I'll be buying the LS1/T56 dropout for it. When I get that here I'll be making sure the power train is up to snuff. When I leave for Afghanistan that will give me the extra money to purchase the kit...seeing as I won't be spending any money on anything...

I might just sell my audio gear off to help offset costs too.

Think 1460 lbs wet with 350 reliable & stock HP. Now, do the math and tell me what there isn't to love about a roadster that I can tool around in like this? :) My backup is the Yaris.

Believe it or not, I read through this entire thread. Thanks y'all for the wealth of information and motivation.

I'm envious of folks who have SPACE to work on their rides. I'm living on northern Vancouver Island in an apartment with no underground parking. Since I don't want to advertise to potential thieves, I tend to just go to parking lots away from my apartment and work on my Yaris there.

To give you a picture of what this looks like:
Installed B-Quiet in the hatch last night. Forecast is rain for the next few days, so I figured I wouldn't wait for the sun. It's the evening, dark and pouring rain. I'm sitting on the folded down back seat with the panels/spare tire/etc in the front seat. I'm trying to warm the metal with my sock feet while I rub the cut B-Quiet sections with my hands to try to warm them. There's also moisture in the car, so I'm using paper towel right before applying. And this is all by flashlight, of course.

After doing about half of the area, I decided to innovate. Drove back to my apartment, tried a few things that didn't work too well. Ended up filling my pressure cooker half full of water, boiling it, then used the outside of the pot to warm the B-Quiet sections. That actually worked pretty well. Also put a layer of "sound blocker" foam from Home Hardware. It wasn't too expensive, so why not. Couldn't find MLV in my area, though.

Finished up at about 1 AM, too tired to even want to test it. Today I tried, and it was worth every penny and all the effort. The subwoofer rattled the trunk too much to enjoy it at high volume, and it fixed it entirely. Next up, the doors.

But I have a problem--the rear view mirror vibrates too much. I don't mind it visually, but it makes too much noise. Any suggestions for this?

Awesome! now you know about me and all the stupid things I've done in the last 3 years, and also know how good I feel after learning by my mistakes, enjoying the YarisWorld community and it's support, all we are good friends that help each other, and like PatM said once to me..."it's like a soup opera" expecting some thing new every time.

About your mirror, try to pull it up and do a good inspection of the mirror it self, maybe there is something loos in it, then try to open it up and put some of that Mat you have inside. Take pictures if you can! and let us know how it goes!

Does the Yaris have a double-ball stalk on the mirror (my xB does)? Because people don't adjust the mirror often, it can become fixed in one position. Changing it's position by moving the entire mirror can change the amount of vibration. IOW, rotating the stalk down or up at the base will change to angle and the vibe frequency.

I just posted this in another forum, I thought about sharing here:

Lets start with PLDs...
This is how PLDs work in my car, the example is on the Mids in kick area, the idea is you measure from left speaker to left ear, right speaker to right ear, then do the math. Do this in different positions, the smaller the result the better.

Now when I was starting into this hobby I never understood what center image was, I came up with this little exercise at home that you can try it too. This will help you to find that center image every body talks about:

Photo 1: Try to recreate the scene at home, the idea is that you stand right in the middle of the speakers, play a few songs of your choice.

Photo 2: You will feel that there is a 3rd speaker just above your head, like a phantom! that is the center image; most of the time would be the singer.

Give it a try!

Now the problem is when you are not in the center of the speakers (in our cars) so to recreate that phantom (center image) right in the center of your car from the Pilot side we try to work it out mechanically (smaller PLDs) then Time Alignment and Left+Right Equalization. The end result is a 3D-mentional feeling of each track, is like been at a concert or live music at a cafe, where you can tell where is the singer (most of the time in the center AKA center-image) where is the Piano, the guitar, etc; and you can even feel how big or small is the room. When you accomplish this you can say that you have a Solid Sound-Stage. see image below:
