I definitely would love to use the Redline and i'm sure that would improve things at least a little bit, but I'm worried voiding my warranty in case something more serious is wrong with it - that does void the warranty right?

as far as the ring you found..... it goes to the shift boot at the top right under the shifter knob... it holds the shift boot to the shaft
