I'm sure that Toyota has legal and marketing advisers whose experience stretch far beyond "being Japanese". Toyota is in a catch 22.
Skewering the auto industry of the country which hosts the greatest portion of their market, by producing better cars at a better price, has predictably had its consequences. Expect more witch hunts against companies who dare to outdo the Greatest and Most Free Country in the World.
As an American, I must say that being presented with such a very clear sign of the country I grew up in sinking under the waves is the saddest part of this whole affair. Especially since it is so obvious just how the competition beat us fair and square.
