Anyway, this may be one of those situations where spending the 0.03 gallons involved in warming the car up once a day might make sense from an overall perspective. Or running it for a little longer once the destination has been reached. The oil, and exhaust system, etc, really do like to reach normal operating temperature on a regular basis. This kind of operation eats mufflers right up. Water sits in it continuously, rather than evaporating out, and it quickly corrodes out from the inside.

I have done 10,000 mile intervals 3 times so far( In my Yaris LB )with Amsoil . Even at 10K intervals the Amsoil still looks better ( clearer ) than Mobil 1 @ 5K miles .

According to Amsoil you can save $108.25 for every 25,000 miles when compared to conventional oil .

Honestly, I'm too lazy to walk. I think I will make my first oil change at 6 months and switch to a good synthetic and possibly go to 9-12 months after that. I also kind of like the idea of a lighter weight oil if it will be better. Any longer trips I take will be with my wife and we will drive her 05 xb. It already has 85k on it.

Short trippers are SUPER hard on oil I would NOT do 1x/Yr OC unlesss you want problems. At minimum do a winter/spring oil change. You need fresh oil through winter.
