You will always get increased mileage from running premium fuel in your car even if it's not a performance car, better fuel more complete combustion = better fuel economy

That is incorrect. There is no higher caloric content in higher octane fuel. In fact, octane is the measurement of a substance's heat resistance rather than one of its thoroughness of burning.

Higher octane can aid in the prevention of predetonation but this is moot for most folks as you have to push the Yaris quite hard to cause that much of a timing issue. The OP's average MPG shows that they are definitely more of the easy driving type.
