If it was a lube shop that suggested the tires needed to be replaced, doubt they were trying to get into OP's pockets. They were either: just honest & conscientious, or too lazy and/or too busy to do the rotation at that time...doubt that the lube-shop stocked tires and had a tire machine and computer balancer on the premises to seal the deal.

I've always just taken it to Wal-mart because my parents work there...I live in an apartment and don't have access to doing it myself or I would.
