World's most silent tires.
Its time for my tires to be changed. Was wondering if Michelin are the quietest tires or Falken are better or Yukohama? there are so many.
What do you ride on?

I've got Nitto 555's now and they're more quiet than my Falken 912's were.

falconeer, spray textured undercoating in your wheel wells. That will reduce the sound level in the car a LOT.

I use Dunlop Signatures. The ride is pretty good and definitely a smooth, quiet one at that.

I am never buying Dunlop again, eventhough the company I work for are the agents for that brand and bridgestone so I get a good discount.
CTSCOT. what brand coating is that? where to buy?

Big note here:
Just like when discussing "grip" or "steering response" or "snow traction" or "wet traction" or "treadwear" or "price" or ANY other characteristic of a tire, you can't just go by the brand name! Michelin, Falken, Yokohama and all the others make a WIDE variety of tire models for different purposes, different vehicles, different markets and different price points. If you want a quiet tire, look for a "touring" tire, and search the Tire Rack customer ratings for one that is ranked well for noise. My wife has Dunlop DZ101's on her car, they don't seem too loud. I have Dunlop Star Specs on my car and they are a bit loud. Anything with large treadblocks and big grooves is going to be a bit loud. Narrower grooves and smaller treadblocks are quieter. Yokohama used to make a tire called the dBs that was specifically designed to be quiet... and it was. You might check and see if they're still making it. Anything that's an OE tire on a luxury car is likely to be a quiet tire, as well. |

Loren: some very good points. My mom has a benz and it came with Michellins and she always gets the same brand when changing tires. Super quiet. And about the groove and treadblock size, you are right again. I had a dunlop aggressive looking low profile tire (cant remember model) but it was very very loud. Hated it.

I had Dunlop Star Specs on my car. Noisy and harsh. Now I am running Yokohoma Avid Envigors and love them. I have about 3k miles on them now and they are smooth, quiet but still have good traction. I've driven them in the rain and they didn't slip at all. They also have a 60k mile warranty.

My NOKIAN tires are pretty quiet, I enjoy them very much, very long tread life and they handle a lot better in snow than I would have thought.

i do agree if you are worried about noise you should add some insulation.

riding on firenza here, they are a little noisy but i can drive like a dog in the rain they sit well on the road, but it make the car so dirty, rotation tires are noisy, also u need to see what kind u want, mileage, high performance, snow, once u got this then its easy to choose, i wouldnt mind getting me another set of bridgestone potenza so2, soft tire, high performance, handles great in the wet, tread patten that makes the car look wicked, now u can get it here anymore,
