I'd always pick JL over Kicker unless you are aiming to be obnoxious and loud. JL makes quality products, kicker... errr.... they cater to those who want to be loud.
Was one 8" not enough? I'm just looking for quality sound, not to blast. I currently have a 10" JL W3 in my 300zx and I am happy with that. I was looking at The 8" because the size and weight. Kinda like to have some sort of trunk space in the hatch. LOL.

As far as amp goes. I haven't really looked into that yet until i have decided on a sub.
