The car has that worthless gimmick Tire Pressure
Monitoring System which is complete and total bullsh!t.

This is SO true!...I had 4 nails in my rear passenger tire and the PSI was 13 and the TPMS did not come on to tell me this, I just happened to gas up and and thought I should check the air in my tires then I realized I must have a nail in my tire, couldn't believe I had 4! Guess, its time to purchase some new tires!

As for the tach, I was told when purchasing my HB (auto) that it comes with a tach as part of the power package.

Is it a Gov. requirement? Did not know that. Makes sense though that the gov. would do something that assinine.

And you're absolutely right about the proper temp. and gas gauges too.

In other words this sucks. I still have a lot of love for my baby, she is good without a tach, I guess. But I still would like one for mine. And that is strange that manual trans, dont come with a tach. I've had many cars in my time and all had a tach, and all were AT trans. Well the search continues....

2010 sedan w/power package and an automatic and tach. While I dont need it, I like it. Helps me control gas pedal/shift points when I'm in gas saving mode, which is most of the time. And I agree, again while not a necessity for a manual, I wouldnt want one without it and it should be standard for a manual no matter what trim level or package you have. Dumb move on toyota's part. Cutting cost and a way to drive up package sales probably.

Probably mainly aimed at pushing package sales.

The correct answer is with a MANUAL sedan you only get a tac if you purchase the power package. You also get a dimming dome light, because of this the dealer will state you can't install an OEM alarm, untrue.

I wanted a 5 speed sedan with power package and keyless entry but was told I could NOT have this because of the tac. The dimming dome light tricks the alarm into thinking a door is still open for about 7 seconds.

It's not the correct answer. I have a tach and dimmer but NO power package.

However, mine is an "S".

This all falls down to where a person lives, laws etc. It sucks, all cars should have a tach, one is more aware of the power in shifts etc, but thats the car business, you get it or you dont, its a scam, fraud, so we can pay more at least this is my opinion, I could be wrong thou. But the fact remains why oh why some models have this and that, all around it sucks.

There are at least two people on here who have swapped it successfully. I am pretty sure they didn't have to do any custom wiring.
