chows among other dogs, also have black tongues and/or spots on their tongue.

As for doomsey, he only looks about 10 lbs under from the pictures, don't know if he's put on weight, but the humane society should have taken care of the fleas and respiratory infection before he went home. Also bleeding pads will go away in 2-3 days. Kinda sounds like they took a dog off the street and sold him to you that day for profit. He looks like a great dog, but I know a lot of "rescues" around here take dogs right off the street and sell them. Don't even wait 24 hours for the owner to call..

Pit Bulls are amazing dogs. Owners are 100% to blame for every dog bite ever. Blaming a breed is the ignorant way out.

he was surrendered to the HS on June 22nd at the overnight drop off. Whoever surrendered him left no information. He weighed only 43 lbs. At that time and in the pictures he weighs 51. I can't even imagine how unhealthy he looked at 43...

They were treating him for fleas but the vet said he still should be on some flea meds because I have other animals.

As for the respiratory infection, it kind of blows my mind that they didn't tell me about it or treat it. He hadbeen hacking and weezing in his kennel there...
It doesn't matter now though Im taking care of it. And his pads are about 90% healed. :D

and I agree 100% that dog bites are the owners fault ALL the time. I wrote a paper on the matter, actually.

Tomato, why don't you get another dog?
