For the car's exterior, I do the 3-step process: wash, polish and wax. I usually do these every 3-4 weeks. In between, I just wash and buff. As for a clay bar, use it on a case to case basis. To determine if you need to clay your car, run your hand over the car's surfaces after cleaning your car. If its smooth, you don't need it yet. If it's rough, you probably need to do it. Do it as part of the 'polish' process.

In my opinion, a new car like yours doesn't need to be clayed yet as its finish is still silky smooth. I haven't clayed our Yaris yet and we've had ours since Nov05. But it all depends on the environment you're in, so there.

Anyway, I mostly use Meguiar's products. Go to their forums. There's a lot of great information there especially for novice detailers.

...oh, and do everything under a shade (ie. carport, garage, etc).
