They "prefer" them because that's all the big 3 rams down peoples throats. They still use the blue and green tic-tac style look for the radios and controls they've had since the 1980's for petes sake.

It has nothing to do with what the American car companies are doing. All brands including the most luxurious and exotic all use analog for a reason. Digital is considered the cheap way out and trendy. Many American cars, particularly GM, put digital speedos in cars during the '80's and '90's and they went out of style. People have even complained that the current Civic uses a digital speedometer. Guaranteed Honda reverts back to analog for the next gen. Analog gives perspective of where you are and people find that desirable.
