The 2ZR-FE from the Scion xD is a direct drop in. It is what comes in the Yaris TS. It would be an easier swap that the above mentioned engines which are all very good but also very old. A 1ZZ or 2ZZ from the Celica has bee done also but requires alot of custom fabrication.....

There is a rather glaring problem about the xD motor which is that there isn't much aftermarket support unless I am woefully mistaken. I actually applaud someone who wants to blaze ahead. In that case, cdydjded, with the tow engines he talks about what would you recommend?

Your absolutely right about the xD motor & the lack of support. With that being said it is an easier swap than the before mentioned engines, has 128hp & 125tq, is a 1.8 & good starting point. If you are going for non turbo I/H/E is all that is needed. If turbo is what you want, Im sure you can make over 200hp with a custom kit....
